Sleep Together

Sleep Together
Wax On Watercolour Paper
20.6 x 14.8"
I'm really enjoying working with the wax bars now and the flexibility they offer in terms of both painting and drawing. For this piece I opted to use only black and white for some tonal practice. admittedly the grave marker was grey anyway but it's still a good way to practice.

The Electric Church

The Electric Church
Wax On Watercolour Paper
14.6 x 17.8"
It's funny how things transform at night, or in this case early morning. What is an unremarkable little church in the day transforms into quite a spectacle when it's dark as the red cross illuminates the early morning gloom.

Pigeons

Pigeon On A Bird Table
Acrylic On Canvas
10 x 14"
Feather
Graphite On Paper
11.75 x 16.5"
A bird table in the garden has meant more wildlife and more painting opportunities. This is the same pigeon from my 'Regal' series that gave me the opportunity to practice painting feathers. I don't know what happened to the little fellow as he never came back, but now he can live forever in my work.

Hydra

Hydra
Wax On Watercolour Paper
18.9 x 13.8"

I painted this tree using some water-soluble wax bars on watercolour paper. Just like the water-soluble graphite it's a great way to practice both disciplines of drawing and painting. This tree is so full of character I just knew it would make a great painting.

Cracked Jug

Cracked Jug
Graphite On Paper
16.5 x 11.75"
I haven't done that much drawing in a while so thought I should get back into the swing of things. Here's a drawing of a jug I made using water-soluble graphite. I love this stuff as its a mixture of drawing and painting that gives such expressive results

Far East Food

Far East Food
Acrylic On Canvas Paper
15.2 x 19.3"
A building I have wanted to paint for a while now because of the yellow and blue colours which contrast with the dull look of the rest of the walls. Its always amazing how much beauty can be found in the most unlikely places.

A still life based on a personal theme. Painting the high visibility jacket was quite a challenge but it's important to push ourselves and create challenges. We only progress if we move beyond our comfort zone.

Red Apples

Red Apples
Acrylic On Canvas
14 x 10"
A nice little still life. Good practice for me to work on a smaller scale and with a different subject. Hopefully they look as good as they tasted.
