Mandrake

Mandrake
Acrylic On Canvas Board
16 x 16"
A cool looking sail boat I spotted in Goole. The boat was called something else but I changed it's name. mandrake is one of my favourite gothic metal bands and they write a lot of songs about the ocean so I thought it was a fitting tribute. Not so happy about the background but I'm still trying to get the hang of landscapes and greens always a challenge.

Abandoned Boat

Abandoned Boat
Acrylic On Canvas
18 x 24"

I have wanted to make some paintings with horses in for a while now and got my chance recently on a trip to Goole. There was only one horse in the field with a few ponies, so for this I just used the same horse again from a different angle and changed the pattern on his body.
This is the first time I have tried to paint a horse and I was quite pleased with the result. What was even harder was the fact that black and white are especially difficult colours to add light and shadow to. I have always struggled particularly with black in this regard but feel I must tackle it as much as I can in order to improve.

By The River

By The River
Acrylic On Canvas
18 x 15.4"
A picture of my father by a river. I rarely paint people and if I do its just for practice and to make sure I still can. I thought I might try to paint more people and perhaps put them into my scenes if it feels appropriate. One reason I don't paint more people is I don't have access to any models right now and buildings don't charge to pose for you.
So consider this a rarity for now. Hopefully though it helps to show you I'm a versatile artist that if given the opportunity can turn my technique to any subject.
